PILATES
Developed from the techniques of the late Joseph Pilates (1880-1967) the Pilates Method is a safe, intelligent exercise system that incorporates precise movements and a focused mind to balance the body in strength, flexibility and control.
Pilates is suitable for all ages and levels of ability. The Pilates exercise works to develop uniform muscle tone and alignment through your entire body. Pilates movements will transform the way your body looks, feels and performs - allowing you to enjoy daily activities and sports with greater efficiency, reduced tension or chance of injury.

The key principles and benefits of the Pilates Method:
Postural awareness - can provide relief from ongoing postural pain (e.g. neck tension when working on a computer).
Effective breathing - used to both calm and invigorate the body in movement (e.g. reduce stress levels and improve relaxation).
Deep abdominal and pelvic control - re-activates and strengthens abdominal and pelvic floor muscles (e.g. during pregnancy, post-pregnancy, rehabilitation of back, pelvic and hip pain)
Concentration of the mind - helps to develop a deeper understanding of your own body.
Movement co-ordination, balance, flow, and stamina - your body will begin to move more freely, enhancing your bodies flexibility and balance. .

Pilates works muscles on a deeper level enhancing the support of the skeleton (spine and bones) and reduces unnecessary tension or restrictioned joints. Pilates is traditionally taught in a studio environment using the complete range of apparatus originally designed by Joseph Pilates. Balance Control Pilates Studio offers a range of apparatus (the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda-chair, Ped-a-Pul, Spine corrector, Ladder Barrels) enabling clients to be continually challenged at their individual fitness level.

STUDIO SESSIONS:
Studio sessions are taught by physiotherapists and experienced instructors depending on your individual needs.
Studio Sessions begin with a compulsory one hour initial consultation to discuss your personal needs and goals. You will be guided through ongoing Studio Sessions designed specifically for you. Pilates exercises will be chosen by your instructor for you to maximise the benefits of your workout. Studio Sessions are an hour long and you will be taught with two others.

MAT CLASSES:
There is a maximum 12 participants per class to allow for individualised attention. These 60 minute classes are sold in blocks of six. The class content is progressive to maximise your improvement and learning of the Pilates Method repertoire. Many of our clients find these classes an effective complement to their weekly Studio sessions.
PRIVATE 1:1 SESSIONS:
Private classes are the most effective route to great results! In many cases chronic injuries can be treated together with Physiotherapy and Private Pilates classes. This can allow for the most effective outcome by applying the Pilates skills learnt into your everyday life.
